The shaft tells a story: a hand-tooled Aztec/Mexica sun calendar stone dominates the front panel in deep relief carving, flanked by hand-painted Quetzalcoatl — the feathered serpent of Aztec mythology — rendered in full color at the collar with green, red, yellow, and blue painted detail that rivals museum-quality artwork.
